Farm: Here we found a nice lot from the Mbamba Bay area in the south, on the shores of Lake Malawi in what is known as the Mbinga district. Coffees in the south have some advantages of better drying conditions and better access to transportation. Namku is a newer cooperative in this region (coops are called “AMCOS”, or Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society), and currently serves almost 350 small farmers in Mbamba highlands.
Tasting Notes: An underlying flavor of burnt sugars is accented by orange spice and cinnamon stick hints, candied citrus peel flavor that informs acidic impression, and wraps up with raspberry black tea in the finish. Medium to Medium Dark.
100% Pure Tanzanian Peaberry Coffee from the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro that is wonderfully acidic, has a rich body, an intense flavor and a fragrant aroma coupled with mellow winy overtones. One thing is certain, a cup of pure peaberry coffee will not taste the same as flat bean coffee, even if the beans came from the same tree. Tanzanian peaberry coffee is known for its intense brightness and high acidity. Conversely, the coffee is medium-bodied and bets enjoyed at a medium roast. Along with a rich, chocolate flavor, Tanzania Peaberry also has hints of dark fruits like black currant, and a soft, sweet finish. Drinkers can also expect to taste floral notes and hints of citrus fruit, coconut, and pineapple. Like most African coffees, Tanzanian peaberry can be enjoyed hot or iced.
